MMJ Cables
Newer DEC computers and terminals use a custom modular connector (MMJ) instead of a 9- or 25-pin serial cable. These cables have been hard to find - until now.
For connecting a PDP-11, VAX, or Alpha to a terminal, printer, or serial console server, both bearing MMJ sockets, order a standard crossover cable.
These are wired identically to the original DEC BC16E 6' (182cm) cable, with MMJ connectors on both ends.
To connect a machine bearing an MMJ socket to another machine bearing a standard DE-9M serial port, such as a modern USB-Serial adapter, order an MMJ-RJ45 cable with RJ45-to-DE-9F adapter.
No null modem required!
These 6' (182cm) cables are wired with an MMJ connector at one end and an RJ45 connector at the other. We supply an adapter to provide the same pinout as the original DEC H8571J:

If you prefer to wire the adapter yourself, leave a note in the shopping cart and we will ship you an unmodified RJ45-to-DE9 adapter. (You might call it a DB9. That's your perogative!)
